IN YOUR SOUL - Postcolonial Theory and Performance. In collaboration with Punkt Ø, New Meaning wishes to invite to workshop with Grada Kilomba. This workshop addresses the reality of racism, migration and white privilege. The one-day workshop will take place in the gallery F15, Jeløya, Moss, Norway on the 10th of october and is open for participation. Contact mail@newmeaning.no for participation. Plantation Memories - Book presentation with Grada Kilomba. New Meaning invites to a presentation of Grada Kilombas newesr book at Litteraturhuset, Oslo October the 11th 16.00.
“(...) Plantation Memories is a compilation of episodes of everyday racism.” (Unrast Verlag, September 2008) The combination of these two words “plantation” and “memories,” describes racism as not only the restaging of a colonial past, but also as a traumatic reality. Everyday racism, argues Grada Kilomba, is experienced as a violent shock which suddenly places the Black subject in a colonial scene where as in a plantation scenario, one is imprisoned as the subordinate and exotic ‘Other.’

Lesson in the art of falling - Norwegian performance and process art 1966-2009. From September New Meaning participates on the exhibition at Preus Museum, the curators are Elisabeth Byre and Jonas Ekeberg. The work is sold to the collection of Preus Museum.

Soul sisters - en gruppe jenter med interkulturell og etnisk norsk bakgrunn, 17-27 år, skal jobbe sammen med arkitekt Jaheda Rasikh, dialogveileder Hanin Al-Khamisi og billedkunstner Gry
O Ulrichsen, for å utvikle og designe veggmaleri. Dette skjer gjennom en workshopserie i dialog, kreativitet og ledelse i løpet av 2008. Se forprosjekt her.

2007
I tilknytning til utstillingen Generator arrangerer New Meaning/Dialog en workshopserie
i dialogforståelse og konflikthåndtering med deltakere fra bl.a. INN (Introduksjonsprogrammet for innvandrere i Trondheim Kommune). Generator vil undersøke alternative strategier for kunst i det offentlige rom og skal gjennomføres i Trondheim under sommer og høst 2007.

Norbita. Under året har Ebba Moi og Daisy Nunes samarbeidet med en elever fra den Internasjonale skole i Fredrikstad om å utvikle webmagasinet Norbita. Vi møttes en gang i uken for å snakke sammen om ideer og lære om lydredigering, webpublisering mm.
